About William Kirkley
WILLIAM A. KIRKLEY An award-winning director, writer and producer whose documentary ORANGE SUNSHINE has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and is currently being adapted into a scripted series at Netflix with Damien Chazelle.
Kirkley enjoys all facets of filmmaking, including shooting, editing, and incorporating design elements in post-production. Finding the humanity in the story and weaving it together with unique camera work, art direction and direction lends itself to artful and heartwarming stories. His commercial and digital work for clients like Amazon, PetCo, Heineken, Reebok, SOS Children’s Villages, and Chevrolet, has a documentary style and a focus on real people.
William's other directing credits include RADICAL LOVE for The New Yorker, the pilot episode of AWKWARD FAMILY PHOTOS which premiered at Sundance 2020, and EXCAVATING TAYLOR MEAD which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Most recently William was brought on to Imagine Entertainment and R.J. Cutlers four-part docuseries MURF THE SURF to shoot and direct all of the extensive archival recreations spanning the 1960s-1980s. William is currently in development on a surf-related doc series with Appian Way.
