About Alex Sobolev
Alex is an internationally awarded Ukrainian film & commercials director who started his career as an Art Director in a number of prestigious Ad agencies. Alex is a global citizen who has lived and prospered in major cosmopolitan cities from Kyiv to London and New York. He has shot more than 50 successful TVCs. He is the proud owner of 25+ local and International awards. Alex has shot in the Ukraine, Russia, the USA, Italy, Egypt, Uzbekistan, and Georgia for brands like Samsung, Visa, Burger King, Google, Vichy, AXE, Citroen, and Rexona.
In 2018 as a creative producer, he took part in the 1968.DIGITAL project. In 2018 BuzzFeed News premiered 1968.DIGITAL, a documentary series that recaps major events that happened that year. The Apple News launch was part of a deal in which Apple paid BuzzFeed for the first-window rights. In 2020 as a scriptwriter and creative producer, he worked on R#J, an american experimental romantic drama. It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2021. R#J was nominated and won a special prize at the prestigious SXSW Awards the same year.
Alex has recently moved to London from Ukraine with his wife and daughter, and he has a full work permit for local employment. Alex is highly collaborative and a true craftsman who is passionate about filmmaking. NFTS and Torino FilmLab alumni.
