Jim began his career as an editor working with such talents as Ridley Scott, Oliver Stone, Johnathon Glazier and Jake Scott to name a few. He first broke into music videos as the youngest editor in Soho cutting for bands such as Jamiroquai, U2, Unkle, Blur and Radiohead, followed by commercials soon after and in 2002 was awarded a D&AD Pencil for Outstanding Editing for Adidas. Jim has also worked on features including the Elysian Fields sequences in Gladiator and the title sequence for Hannibal. On Sir Ridley Scott’s suggestion, Jim started directing and soon won the BBC New Directors Award for his short film There was a Man starring Jessica Hynes. He then followed this up with his hard hitting spot for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This film best showcases his position as a visual effects director with strong performance and great visual style. It won a Yellow Pencil at the D&AD awards, Best Crafted Commercial and Best Sound Direction at the British Television Advertising Craft Awards. It combines intimate performance with powerful visuals, seamless effects and flawless editing. To date he has worked in both capacities for such brands as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, BMW, Volvo, Sony, Rolex, HSBC, Barclays Bank and many more, winning numerous accolades. In 2015 he directed his first feature called “Sword of Vengeance” starring Annabell Wallis and Ed Skrein. Following that he was brought on board by Scott Free to work on the new television series Taboo, starring Tom Hardy as a Creative Consultant on the post production to help deliver the visuals, editing, performances and sound in its very own stylistic world. 2018 was a busy year for Jim, his Virtual Reality experience for Fanta The 13th Floor won Gold at the Media Week Awards UK. He then followed this up with another Gold at Promax UK for outstanding brand identity in television marketing for his SKY Witness Channel idents as well as spending the best part of 2018 working on Ridley’s Hennessy film Seven Worlds as editor. The film launched at the 2019 Oscars. Jim has also has recently signed up to shoot his second feature film titled Venom of the Muse which is due to start production early 2024 and recently written two television projects, the first a Sci-fi series called Ascension Kode which is out to Paramount and a period drama named Fallen Kingdom which has been picked up and currently with Disney +
